Trouble 89 – A Resurrected Transfer Student
In this chapter Oshizu is revived! Well, not really, but an artificial body for her was made and she possesses it, so it’s like she is alive again. This makes the cast one person larger… as if it is not big enough already, but that’s no biggie, as it’s quite funny with her around since she had been dead for 400 years. Haruna and Oshizu instantly become friends, and throughout the rest of the series, they are together a lot.
Trouble 90 – Allow Us to Serve You
I found this chapter quite amusing, even though it’s not realistic, but I just found it funny. The school is cleaning the streets but all the females are wearing maid outfits, LOL. There’s some good dialogue and events, with the ending showing this weird alien taking on the form of Lala.
The runaway alien form (that doesn't seem to be too advanced) was mimicking most of the cast but with opposite personalities. I enjoyed the chapter, seeing all the cast doing what they normally do or say, it’s funny.
Trouble 92 – A Rare Guest Comes
Zastin gets scolded when he mentioned he may be able to become a professional manga illustrator, so he protects Lala... too much. He suspects Yami for the whole chapter trying to see her ‘ploy’, really good chapter, especially the end.
Trouble 93 – Trouble Quest
The first chapter in a six-part story arc, and what I consider to be the best story arc in the whole series (maybe apart from the first, but still, this is really good). Rito, Haruna, Mikan, and Kotegawa get transported mysteriously to this virtual world, and it seems to be the result of Lala, but she is not to be seen. It is very mysterious, and it doesn't reveal what is going on, it ends with an appearance of Magical Kyouko, but… how? Very interesting…
The story gets even better, it is based on a RPG, and the characters have to follow the instructions. They get their class, Haruna is a knight, Kotegawa a martial artist, and Mikan a spellcaster, but Rito… is hilariously a florist!
It gets even funnier when they are ambushed by monsters, with Rito using his watering can to no effect, I laughed quite hard at that. At the end, it would seem that Lala is not the mastermind, more like a sleeping princess, and that it would be Magical Kyouko who is the one behind all this, it makes this more and more interesting as she states she wants Rito as well…
Trouble 95 – Trouble Quest 3
Some time had passed since the last chapter, and they find an inn to stay. Magical Kyouko sees Rito at night… wearing something special, I laughed at the name of the item though. It would seem that Kyouko gave Rito an ultimatum, be with her and she’ll get them back into the real world…
It is also revealed that she is the last boss… It is still very mysterious and a lot of things don't make any sense yet. The chapter ends with Yami appearing… in a playgirl costume, this just keeps getting better and better.
Trouble 96 – Trouble Quest 4
More of the cast appear, with Run, Saki and her assistants, and even the Principal. Although nearing the end of the story arc, a lot of things are still not explained, and I’m still left wondering what all this is about. Well, Rito and gang get warped straight to the heart of the trouble, at Kyouko’s castle, and Rito says that he won’t be with her.
Kyouko answers this with a question directed at Rito, if he doesn't want to be with her then he must love Lala, but how does he feel about her? Oh, it’s about time this question is asked, and it would be very very interesting to see how Rito answers (in the next chapter), since he’s in the presence of Lala and just as importantly, Haruna…
Trouble 97 – Trouble Quest 5
A couple of pages of reflection first, then we have Rito finally voicing his feelings, the feelings that we had not heard before (although we may have suspected it). It was… perfect, his feelings had been transferred into dialogue very well, I felt that they had captured the moment perfectly, Rito’s indecision, his revelation at his feelings…
Kyouko gets angry and she tries to kill the cast (well, drain their HP and sent them back to the beginning) but Rito’s florist class finally becomes useful, as he is the only one that can douse the flames that Kyouko had conjured. In addition to the great moment of Rito’s expression, we get a couple of frames of good jokes and gags. Kotegawa also shows her feelings a bit, and Mikan even commented (to herself) that Rito seems like a playboy.
At the end, we get a very surprisingly revelation, Kyouko is not the mastermind behind this (just someone conjured up and programmed), but the two guards that we had seen mysteriously at the back throughout the story arc. They reveal themselves and they are… two girls?! And what’s this?! They call Lala “onee-chan” (sister)?
Omake. Bath Love Big Trouble
An amusing “half-chapter”, the cast revisits the public bath that they had smashed back in “War at the Public Bath”. Rito is bathing and along comes Ren (who hasn't appeared for a while, as Run is now taking the limelight), who accidentally turns into Run, very very funny. Love the ending how Yami comments that Rito is always screaming isn’t he? (Lala was asking what was wrong with Rito as they could hear him on their side).
Overall
One of the best volumes of To Love-Ru, the only thing I have to complain about is that they couldn't fit all six chapters of the Trouble Quest story arc into the one volume (the last chapter is in the next volume). As mentioned, Trouble Quest is probably my favourite story arc, and it is really worth reading, as a few important things happen, Rito voicing his feelings being a major part. An awesome awesome volume that I highly recommend.
