To Love-Ru Vol. 7

VOL. 7 – THE PERSON HARUNA LIKES
Trouble 53 – The Person Haruna Likes

A chapter full of the characters misunderstanding, but this time in a good way. Rito asks Haruna if she has a boyfriend or anyone in mind, but how can she say she likes him? This leads to Rito thinking she does have someone she likes, never once occurring to him that it might be himself. It’s a bittersweet moment, and the chapter ends on a funny encounter with Kotegawa.

Trouble 54 – Welcome to the Yuuki Household

Chapter that focuses on Mikan, the observant younger sister of Rito. The events in the chapter are ridiculous and exist only in manga, but it is funny. I mean, even the characters themselves sometimes doubt how they managed to pass off Rito as his father, a very amusing chapter.

Trouble 55 – Infiltration! Old School Building

The first in a four chapter story arc where it focuses Rito and his friends exploring the Old School Building. This chapter isn’t that exciting and nothing much happens, don't know why they showed Saki when she doesn't have any involvement or relevance at all during the arc. The story arc does get better though, and it ends on a suspenseful note, so I would not condemn this chapter.

Trouble 56 – Approaching Terror

The story gets more and more suspicious, it’s still not revealing the ‘reason’ (for a lack of better term) of all these ghostly behaviour, is there really ghosts or just something else? I laughed out loud for some reason when Yami gets nicknamed “Yami Yami”, thought that was really amusing. A much more interesting chapter, and it ends on another suspenseful happening.

Trouble 57 – The Old School Building’s Inhabitants

Ahh, we finally get to the bottom of the weird things happening, it seems to be some collection of monsters! We learn another weakness of Yami, she hates slimy things and becomes completely weak (similar to how Lala’s tail is her weak point). Curiously, we also see a ghost of a girl watching, but seemed to have no part in the scaring. Once again, the chapter ends with a cliffhanger, forcing you to impatiently wait for the next chapter (if you were following the weekly Jump that is).

Trouble 58 – An Unexpected End

The final chapter in the current story arc, turns out the collection of monsters were just aliens that had nowhere else to go (since adopted into Mikado’s house). Haruna can be really strong when she’s scared… she uses Rito as a weapon (in a way that’s similar to using a club) to defeat all the monsters singlehandedly, wow… Well, that ghost I mentioned? Even the aliens are surprised she’s there and they all freak out. A nice story arc that’s quite refreshing.

Trouble 59 – The Princess Who Fell In Love

Saki falls in love, with who? None other than Zastin, the loyal servant of Lala, which is really ironic considering Saki would consider anyone at that level to be too low for her, serves her right I’d say.

Trouble 60 – Troublesome, Isn’t It?

We get to meet Rito’s mother, Ringo, who is a fashion designer (and a top one at that). Like with all of Rito’s family, she’s pretty weird and not what you would expect. An average chapter overall, with nothing much happening, but there are a fair few laughs.

Trouble 61 – Yami-yami Fashion

An entertaining chapter, but another one off random story, still, it focuses on Yami, and her chapters aren’t usually that bad. Really funny, at the price of Rito though, as he’s gets smashed numerous times in the chapter. Great chapter, and we see some surprising things about Yami.

Overall

Another good volume with some strong stories (when I say ‘strong’, I mean that in the comedy and entertainment sense, not in the actual plot sense, as you’ve probably know by now, there is pretty much no plot), there really isn’t a bad chapter in this lot, which is surprising.
